1. Purpose
This Membership Policy governs the rights, responsibilities, and conditions for all members under the Global Social Work Association (GSWA) umbrella. It applies universally to GSWA memberships as well as any membership platforms or initiatives that operate under GSWA’s purview. This policy ensures consistency, transparency, and equity across all membership structures.
2. Membership Categories
GSWA offers the following categories of membership:

Individual Memberships: Open to professionals, students, and volunteers in the field of social work and related disciplines.
•
Organizational Memberships: Available for NGOs, research institutions, and educational bodies.
•
Honorary Memberships: Awarded to individuals recognized for their significant contributions to social work and allied fields.
•
Affiliate Memberships: Available to individuals and groups affiliated with specific GSWA initiatives or platforms.
3. Eligibility Criteria
•
Individuals must demonstrate interest or engagement in social work or allied fields.
•
Organizations must align with GSWA’s mission and objectives.
•
Membership applications are subject to review and approval by GSWA.
4. Membership Fees
•
Membership fees are structured based on category and region to ensure accessibility:

Membership fees are subject to annual review and adjustment as needed.
•
Payment methods include online transfer, credit/debit card, and other digital payment options.
5. Rights of Members
All members are entitled to:
1.
Access GSWA’s resources, platforms, and exclusive content.
2.
Participate in GSWA-led initiatives, discussions, and events.
3.
Contribute to GSWA publications, research, and forums.
4.
Nominate and vote in elections (where applicable).
6. Membership Refund Policy
•
Membership fees are non-refundable except in the following cases:
–
Duplicate payment made by the member.
–
Membership application rejected by GSWA.
•
Refund requests must be submitted within 30 days of the payment date along with proof of payment.
•
Approved refunds will be processed within 15 business days.
•
Refunds will be issued via the same payment method used for the initial transaction.
7. Responsibilities of Members
Members are expected to:
1.
Adhere to GSWA’s code of conduct and guiding principles.
2.
Actively engage in GSWA activities and contribute to the advancement of social work.
3.
Renew memberships on time to maintain active status.
4.
Promote GSWA’s vision, mission, and objectives.
8. Termination and Suspension of Membership
•
Membership may be terminated or suspended if a member:
–
Violates GSWA’s policies or code of conduct.
–
Fails to pay the membership fee within the grace period.
–
Engages in activities that conflict with GSWA’s mission and values.
•
Terminated members may appeal in writing to the GSWA Membership Committee.
